A mother turns ultrasound into beautiful abstract paintings

During pregnancy, ultrasound scans are the only way we have to "spy" on what's going on in there. They have a medical function, to control the monitoring of pregnancy and the development of the baby, but they also have an important emotional component as they are the means that parents have to see their baby moving inside the womb.

We usually keep ultrasound as a reminder of pregnancy, but there is a more original and beautiful way to do it. Laura Steerman, an Irish mother with three children turn ultrasound into beautiful abstract paintings to hang on your wall.

The 35-year-old artist works as a lawyer, but her true passion is painting, to which she dedicates all the time she can in her project called Quaint Baby Ultrasound Art.

He started to create these ultrasonic paints from the pregnancies of his own daughters. The ultrasounds were too small to hang on the wall, and also have hardly any color, (usually black and white or the most modern in sepia).

Then it occurred to him to give a turn to the traditional ultrasound to turn them into a burst of color, paintings that excite and at the same time are a precious memory, ideal for decorating the baby's room or a special place in the house.

Friends and acquaintances began to commission paintings from their own ultrasounds that they later shared on their social networks. Thus began to arrive more and more orders and what began as a hobby became a business that fills her with happiness.

"My paintings were designed as a gift to celebrate pregnancy and this experience together. Each piece aims to capture the magic and personality of your baby." Laura Steerman / QuaintBaby Laura Steerman / QuaintBaby

Laura mentions that she feels privileged to do this job that involves such an intimate and special trip for families.

"Like the personality and fingerprints, every baby inside the womb is unique," says the artist. And so it expresses in these beautiful works of art from ultrasound They celebrate the beauty of pregnancy.
