Pharmacists report the proper feeding of the baby

In order to raise awareness among parents and grandparents, pharmacists of the Provincial College of Pharmacists of Galicia they will develop a information campaign on the guidelines to be carried out when introducing new foods in babies.

It is necessary to instruct on the importance of following the indications that pediatricians perform, since otherwise different allergies or food intolerances may occur with the consequent consequences. The digestive system of babies is in the process of maturation and it is not good to try to anticipate events and provide the little food at the wrong time. From the fourth month the milk does not cover all the needs of the baby and it is when they begin to introduce the appropriate foods to complement their diet. This introduction should always be done in small quantities and spaced at least 24 or 48 hours. This progressive incorporation allows the baby to properly assimilate food.

As a reminder, first gluten-free cereals are introduced, then juices and fruits, then vegetables and soft meats, pasta, legumes and finally fish. As for sausages, sweet ham is recommended.

We emphasize again the importance of following the recommendations of specialists and pediatricians for an adequate development of the child without suffering any type of food setback.
