Study the relationship of birthmarks with childhood cancer

Talking about cancer is difficult for me, but when it comes to children, it makes me bitter.

With the intention of finding some explanation for the development of some types of childhood cancer, a team from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis has conducted a study with almost 50,000 children.

They found certain relationship between babies who had a definitive or suspicious birth spot during the first year and an increased risk of cancer.

Of all, 2,505 children had a definitive or suspicious birthmark, of which 47 were diagnosed with cancer before age 8 and 7 had a definitive or suspicious birthmark.

According to doctors, "small malformations, such as birthmarks, would reflect altered prenatal development," which could be one of the causes of an increased risk of cancer development.

They found that having a birthmark caused three times the chance of developing a tumor, although they could not be linked to any specific kind of childhood cancer.

Do not grieve if your baby was born with a birthmark, in addition to its many origins, these are just the first data of a scientific investigation that they also recognize may have been the result of a coincidence given that the number of children with Cancer and skin spots are very small.

The important thing is that the efforts of the researchers in the search for possible causes related to cancer, one of the great evils of this century, which when it comes to children even more unworthy are not cease.
