Breastfeeding to prevent type 2 diabetes in children

Well, you know that in Babies and more we are ultra-strong advocates of breastfeeding. We have talked countless times about the benefits of this practice for both mom and baby.

Type 2 diabetes is increasingly common among children and adolescents, largely due to the alarming growth of obesity cases in the child population.

A team of researchers from the University of South Carolina has wanted to investigate how to prevent type 2 diabetes, in which unlike type 1, the body produces insulin but the body is unable to respond to it normally.

Just as previous studies have pointed to breastfeeding as an effective way to prevent obesity, new research suggests that Babies who are breastfeeding would be less likely to develop type 2 diabetes when they reach adolescence.

According to the results of the study published by the medical journal Diabetes Care, breastfeeding has a protective effect against this disease (type 2 diabetes) by acting as a moderator of child weight.

Breastfeeding has the advantage that it does not know about measures, the baby takes the amount of milk he needs and is regulated according to his demand.

This indicates that we are on the right path by promoting breastfeeding from the 1 minute of life and for the time that the baby demands (the WHO recommends it at least up to 2 years).

It is curious to discover that one of the most powerful weapons to fight against the silent epidemic of obesity is breastfeeding, a resource so cheap and so available to everyone. This type of studies makes us see that if we want our children to be healthy adults, we must begin to change the habits of life from NOW.
