New karma system in Babies and more

Always with the intention of improving communication with our readers, we return to present an innovation in the blog. This time it is about new karma system in Babies and more.

Understanding Babies and more as a community of parents and readers passionate about the world of babies, the karma system is a fundamental part of community functionalities.

With this we can improve conversations based on the level of activity of each user in the community. But there is much more.

We have done it in a way that is attractive and rewards good users, those who make community and at the same time robust against ill-intentioned users.

New system news

In the new karma system, in addition to commenting on the post or voting on the blog, it is taken into account that the profile or user page is complete (with photo / avatar and description) and that we have followers and experts. This will help us to comment and our comments bring the value that has always given life to blogs.

When we vote negatively on a comment, the weight of our vote is now greater than before to avoid ill-intentioned commentators, provided that this functionality is not abused because the important thing is not the amount of negative votes we give but the quality of them, it is say, whose negative vote comes from.

Punctuation

The score now ranges from 1 to 10. The equivalence is as follows:

  • 1-2 points equals one star.
  • 3-4 to two and so on.

There is no one with any stars, we all form a community entrance in Babies and more.

For those who want more technical details, the karma calculation is done as follows:

  • Votes received, weight 50%
  • Votes assigned to posts, weight 12.5%
  • Votes assigned to comments, 12.5%
  • Number of followers: 12.5%
  • Number of experts: 6.25%
  • Full profile: 6.25%

This user karma is recalculated every day as a weighted average of the previous day's score (20%) and the preceding karma (80%).
