A woman from the United States who will give birth within two weeks knew, during pregnancy, that the embryo that was implanted using the in vitro fertilization technique belonged to another couple.
This woman is Carolyn Savage, a 40-year-old American who lives in Ohio who is about to have her fourth child, with the difference that she “belongs” to another couple who was being treated at the same fertility clinic as the Savage .
Once they had achieved pregnancy they were informed that, by mistake, they had been implanted with another couple's embryo and offered them the possibility of stopping the pregnancy.
The news was a blow to the couple, who had decided to try to have another child with the last embryo they had frozen in the clinic, however they decided that they would continue with the pregnancy and that they would give the child to his real parents.
“The hardest part is going to be having the baby”explained the woman, who contacted the child's biological mother to tell her that she would give her son and to ask for a moment with the newborn "To say 'hello' and 'goodbye'" to the baby who has been pregnant for nine months.
