Lickety Split It is a stopwatch for iOS, the operating system of Apple devices. His main ability is that he performs Countdown while playing classical music. The goal is to encourage and motivate children to finish a certain task before the countdown ends.
The application is designed, as indicated in the video, to make the bed, brush your teeth, get ready to go out, get dressed, tidy up the room, put on your pajamas or eat. It seems a bit exaggerated to me that children have to do things in the voice of now! and in a minimum time although there are parents for everything and maybe they practice this even outside of this type of applications.
Comment on Applesphere that the application lacks better graphics, a more appropriate typography, adaptation to Spanish and more customization options so that children feel more involved with the task. I add that the option of marking the time to do a task, especially for children, seems a bit exaggerated because they know what it costs to do something especially if we encourage them or have to do some activity with them.
The application is divided into two sections: beat the clock and countdown.
Beat the clock It includes six musical timers already defined for the actions: ready to go out, make the bed, get dressed, tidy room, pajamas and eat. Each timer has a different music and an amount of time of its own. In addition to the predefined timers, a custom one can be created. These are available in increments of one to four minutes. To use the application parents will only have to select the appropriate timer and the application will take care of the rest. When the child finishes his homework he has to press "I did it" to hear a positive comment and see a bonus in the form of animation on the screen.
Countdown It has two timers: clean teeth and my turn. The countdown orders to do the task until time runs out. There are also custom timers in this section.
The application is designed for iPhone and iPad and it has compatibility with iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. As for the operating system you need iOS 4.0 or later. Lickety Split has a free version and another that costs 0.79 euros.
